What are the top adventure games of all time? Each person will have their own list of favorites, but if we look at the notes that the critics hand out, not everyone could relate. So in respect of that, we look at the most adventurous games we’ve been blessed with in the past.
Top Adventure Games of All Time
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Nintendo 64 (1998)
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is the title that tops the podium. With a 99 average rating among specialized reviews, Link’s jump to all three dimensions is still enjoyed as before, and the spearhead of the top 10 games has no expiration date. The graphics may resent, but the fun is still intact. Not to mention the avalanche of those who experienced it in the first place that open and interconnected world in which it seemed the definitive adventure. You don’t forget that.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2
If you lived through the era you’ll already know about the skateboard boom and especially Tony Hawk, it’s representative for the profane and a bestseller with its video game series. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2 was a ball for Sony’s first console and, amazing as it may seem, it ranks second with a 98 medium grade.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2 for Dreamcast ranks 11th on the list with a 97 average rating.
Grand Theft Auto IV
PlayStation 3 (2008)
Although they excelled with the previous version, also coinciding with the move to the three dimensions, the Rock Star franchise began to eat the world from Grand Theft Auto IV, which remains the most appreciated chapter of the series with a 98 score. The power of PS3, outstanding technical section and intense, action-packed history earned them gold.
There was little left for Sega to throw in the towel with the consoles, but even with those consoles, the Japanese company has managed to place themselves in an absolutely incredible and dignified fourth position, thanks to Namco. The game’s developer gave SoulCalibur a good shot after its exploitation in arcades, explaining that this gunfighting title has come higher than any other, with a 98 average note.
Super Mario Galaxy
Nintendo’s with the Mario saga is unheard of. Then they had exploited the poor plumber on the edge of the unspeakable and the joke then is a must-see: “What will Nintendo surprise us with this time? Another Mario?”. And yes, Nintendo released another Mario. And a lot of jaws fell to the ground. Mario Galaxy gave a tour to the platforms in 3D, in addition, to a remarkable technical section for a console that did not enjoy the power of its competitors.
From lethal heroine to lethal heroin, making it a Nintendo gift to the saga’s audience starring the intrepid Samus Aran. After an epic Super Metroid, how would gameplay evolve with 3D? Metroid Prime changed everything, without changing anything. Therein lies the greatness of the title and the company that developed it, Retro Studios, which also took care of its two sequels. It was the best of GameCube and a 97 score.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3
PlayStation 2 (2001)
Back to the skateboard. The 21st century was starting out strongly, but game experimentation was still in the open, Sony’s new console was deploying potential in droves. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 was an instant hit that, like it or not, keeps it in 12th position with an average score of 97.
